Costa Concordia

This New York Times attached  story reminds me that it was 10 years ago this month that Dan Hodgson and I were on Giglio to cover the extraordinary story of the Costa Concordia for Global News. I still remember the heartbreaking interview we did with Kevin Rebello, whose brother was among the lost. Good that the Times caught up with him for this article. I often cite this experience in giving talks about #crisiscommunications . Reporters always, rightly, focus on the human cost of disasters. With the Costa Concordia, it was 32 people killed because of the lethal stupidity of the captain.

News that Mohamad Fakih was awarded the Order of Canada reminded me of our memorable conversation for the Social Purpose Exchange podcast for Goodman Sustainability Group Inc. Worth a listen.  Here’s the link.
