2021 in Review

I hope you’ll pardon a few reflective words as 2021 comes to an end. I was extraordinarily fortunate in the past 12 months to assist a fascinating and diverse array of clients. There were #mediatraining sessions for a Big Five bank, a major healthcare institution, a multinational food company, a leading law firm and our valued and longstanding client the Ontario Real Estate Association, among many others. There were #crisiscommunications and issues management files for a national internet firm, an international charity and individuals facing challenging headlines. Presentations on crisis comms to industry and government organizations in Canada and the USA. Ongoing writing assignments for longtime clients Women’s Brain Health Initiative and Association of Power Producers of Ontario (APPrO), as well as hosting APPrO’s virtual conference for the second year. A multinational PR firm called me in to develop a strategic communications plan (a continuing assignment) for a high-profile client facing a sensitive matter. I’m assisting one of Canada’s largest developers on #ESG strategy for a major project and I hosted panels on #socialpurpose for VeriStell Institute. Thanks to Mike Wise, I dipped my toe into teaching with an “Introduction to Journalism” course at Humber College. Along with way, continuing fruitful collaborations with colleagues such as Victoria Lomax Ollers & Isabella Cairess Favaro. And at year’s end, a new association with Sarbjit KaurKarman Wong & Naomi Parness and their dynamic KPWcomms. I even managed to get on a plane again for the first #travelwriting in a while, a piece for Postmedia Network Inc. documenting a terrific trip to Yukon with my brother. Time for a (short) break. For all those in my network, I wish you a happy and healthy 2022.
